Dernière mise à jours il y'a 5 mois

Following the launch of the Cocoa Quality Premium payment campaign for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 fiscal years in Ntui on August 25, 2025, the caravan led by the Minister of Trade, MBARGA ATANGANA was deported this Friday, August 29, 2025 to Loum, in the Department of Moungo, in the presence of the governor of the Littoral region, where a jubilant crowd was waiting for him at the Place des Fêtes in the city. The producers of this Department were in the spotlight, for a bonus amount of 159,561,400 FCFA, which is in addition to the sum of approximately 130 billion FCFA received by said producers for the sale of their cocoa during the 2024/2025 campaign.

In his welcoming remarks, the producers' spokesperson, Roger NYADJOU, did not skimp on words to express the feeling of happiness and the state of mind of the populations in general and the producers in particular. Cameroon's cocoa producers, he acknowledged, "have now been talking, since 2023, as entrepreneurs, about their income in terms of millions." He continued: "The current improvement is the cyclical and structural consequence of a set of factors, including the clear-sighted and anticipatory option and choice of the marketing system applied in Cameroon and decided by the State Summit, totally in favor of the small producer."

Speaking in turn, the Minister of Commerce welcomed this public demonstration of recognition and gratitude from the cocoa producers of Moungo. He reminded the producers of Moungo, a department recognized as the main coffee-growing area in Cameroon, that the new configuration of the cocoa market, which is to their advantage, has been coupled, for the past two years, with a surge in coffee prices. Moungo producers are therefore surfing on two fronts at once, and that's a good thing. The Minister of Commerce also wanted to be reassuring for the future of our cocoa sector, basing his optimism on the fact that Cameroonian cocoa has moved from the status of a secondary origin to that of a reference origin, particularly prized and sought after on the market, as evidenced by the regular and repeated visits of the elite of the global chocolate industry to our country.

Domestically, the Government Member continued, a second market has been created, in line with the Head of State's Highest Directives aimed at the structural transformation of our economy, represented by local processing units, which are also very active in the search for the precious bean, all of which now place the producer in control. From this perspective, he specified, Moungo producers are certainly in the best position, thanks to the proximity of the Kekem industrial unit, whose installed capacity has increased from 35,000 to 80,000 tons of grinding in just a few years. The primary supplier of beans to this industrial unit will inevitably be the Moungo Department, which thus sees its future written in gold, the brown gold of cocoa.
