This inflation rate shows a significant drop, decreasing from 5.7% in the first half of 2024 to 4.1% in the same period of 2025.Two consumption items accounted for the bulk of inflationary pressures, contributing 3.1 percentage points out of the 4.1% observed: food products, whose prices increased by 6.5% , and transportation costs, which rose by 7.4%, linked to successive fuel price hikes (February 2023 and 2024). Regional disparities remain significant, with rates ranging from 2.2% in Bertoua to 5.9% in Maroua, according to the National Institute of Statistics . The government has set an objective to bring inflation down to 4% by the end of the year. This objective remains achievable, provided that key risks are contained, particularly new energy price increases, fiscal adjustments, and geopolitical uncertainties. Despite this optimism, the National Institute of Statistics notes that "the main challenge for the second half of the year will be to control inflation without compromising the economic growth dynamic.Despite inflationary pressures observed in the country since the end of 2021, Cameroonian authorities anticipate economic growth of 3.9% in 2025, up from 3.5% in 2024. This is revealed in both the economic update on public debt as of June 2025, published by the Autonomous Amortization Fund and the financial rating agency Fitch Ratings' recently released report on Cameroon
