The tender offer launched on December 17, 2024, with an allocation of 220 billion CFA francs, attracted bids totaling more than 362 billion CFA francs. This trend, as evidenced by the previous two injection operations in 2024, indicates a resurgence of interest in the Central Bank's refinancing mechanisms. The Bank of Central African States scaled back its offers to XAF 160 Billion.Defying expectations, banks' expressed needs totaled XAF 224.8 billion and XAF 162.8 billion on December 3 and 10, respectively, indicating a significant resurgence of banks' interest in these mechanisms. The year-end periods are traditionally marked by a significant increase in household consumption, prompting businesses and individuals to seek more bank credit to meet this increased demand. As a result, commercial banks are increasingly relying on the Bank of Central African States' facilities to address their liquidity needs.
