Forced to reduce to 160 billion CFA francs the volume of liquidity injected into commercial banks in the CEMAC sub-region, this initiative seems to be in line with their requests. The refinancing operation of 160 billion CFA francs was subscribed to 101.7% by credit institutions, representing an expressed need of 162 billion CFA francs.Since the resumption of liquidity injections six months ago ,the banks' needs have continued to soar, often exceeding 400 billion CFA francs per week. Before the relaunch of financing operations, commercial banks in the CEMAC sub-region were subject to intensified liquidity collection operations from bank vaults and, more recently, the issuance of Bank of Central African States bonds to drain even more bank liquidity. These operations are being used by the Central Bank of Central African States to toughen the conditions for state financing. The objective being to drain commercial banks and thus restrict access for economic agents to reduce inflation by more than 15%, which would be of monetary origin in this community space.
