The amount invested by the ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (BIDC) in 2024 stands at $365 million, down from the $509 million committed in 2023 and $724.7 million in 2022. This trend is explained by the impending end of the bank's 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, which provided for the investment of $2.57 billion over five years to finance development projects. According to George Agyekum Donkor, President of the BIDC, the plan's objectives have been achieved. These funds were directed towards infrastructure, industry, education, health and services, with the aim of stimulating growth, creating jobs and improving living conditions in the sub-region.Despite decline in commitments, the bank shows a solid financial situation. Its total balance sheet reached $1.97 billion at the end of 2024, exceeding the target of $1.7 billion set in its strategic plan. In 2023, this total stood at $1.87 billion, confirming the institution's continued growth.
