Agriculture:Cameroon ranks among the top 10 largest peanut producers in Africa.

Peanuts are grown in over 100 countries on more than 26.4 million hectares, with an average yield of 1.4 tonnes. Developing countries account for more than 90% of production, cultivated area, and more than 95% of global production.In this ranking, Nigeria tops the list, while Cameroon closes the list in 10th position.Globally, the top producers are China and India, which together account for more than 50% of global production. Africa provides more than 20% of global production, with Senegal, Sudan, and Nigeria dominating the African market thanks to their suitable land, favorable climate, and the economic importance of this crop.In Senegal, for example, this crop was the driving force behind the development of the economy and accounted for up to 80% of exports, providing the majority of monetary income in rural area.

In Cameroon,Peanut cultivation employs more than 10% of the population and over one million people worldwide. It is one of the main sources of monetary income for rural areas.
