The Board of Directors of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will consider a substantial loan to Afriland First Bank, aims to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Cameroon, which account for more than 90% of the national economic fabric.The project consists of an unsecured senior loan with a grace period of up to Approximately 13 billion CFA francs of this amount (CFA 37,5 billion )will be financed by the International Finance Corporation, while CFA 26 billion will be mobilized from other partner lenders.A significant portion of the funds, at least over 20%, will be allocated to businesses led by women entrepreneurs, a sector still marginalized in the Cameroonian economy. Despite progress, women entrepreneurs in Cameroon still face numerous obstacles in accessing financing.This project is part of IFC's commitment to promote women's empowerment and provide greater economic opportunities.
