Road Infrastructure : Paving of the Mvangan – Nkpaebae 2 Axis Enters Its Active Phase

Dernière mise à jours il y'a 6 jours

The opening up of the agricultural basin in the South Region has reached a decisive stage with the intensification of work on the route connecting Mvangan to Nkpaebae 2. This progressive paving project, spanning a linear distance of 40.7 kilometers, was entrusted to the company GE GROUP SARL, which is currently mobilizing its technical units to transform this once difficult-to-travel axis. As of January 7, 2026, the progress of the site reflects an efficient deployment dynamic, marked by a multiplication of interventions on several simultaneous fronts. Right-of-way clearing and platform shaping operations are now effective up to kilometer point PK 16+850, already altering the landscape of this forest corridor.

Technical advancement on the ground is evidenced by the completion of the base layer in lateritic gravel, with a regulatory thickness of 25 centimeters, already laid over nearly 15 kilometers. Parallel to these earthworks, the contractor has launched a critical phase of supplying surfacing materials. Deposits of 10/14 and 6/10 grading gravel are multiplying along the route, intended for the implementation of a double-layer coating on the roadway and a single-layer treatment for the shoulders. This logistical component already covers more than 5 kilometers, signaling the imminence of the first gravelling operations that will seal the road structure.

The execution of this contract, closely monitored by the technical services of the Ministry of Public Works, responds to a demand for durability in an area subject to heavy rainfall constraints. The rigorous reprofiling and compaction of the platform form the foundation of this infrastructure, whose purpose is to facilitate the transport of cash crops to urban consumption centers. By stabilizing the roadway and ensuring adequate drainage, the project aims to drastically reduce travel times and vehicle maintenance costs. This road modernization is perceived by local populations as an essential growth lever to boost the rural economy of the Mvila department.

The entry into this active paving phase at the beginning of 2026 confirms the commitments made during the previous fiscal year's budget planning. The coordination between the contracting authority and GE GROUP SARL allows for the anticipation of difficulties related to the rainy season by securing the base layers during the period of climatic stability. Ultimately, the delivery of this paved axis will complete an essential link in the regional road network, strengthening connectivity between landlocked localities and the major communication routes of the South, while guaranteeing driving comfort that meets national standards.
