Between July and September 2024 , Cameroon's rice exports saw a remarkable 364% annual growth, driven by a 9023 tonne increase.According to statistics, these exports generated 6,8billion Cfa Francs in revenue for the country.Cameroon's National Institute of Statistics report that , the country exported 20000 tonnes of rice to other nations in 2023 , with Chad receiving the lion's share of 15494 tonnes , resulting in 10,7 billion cfa francs in revenue.It's worth noting that Gabon , Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea are also customers of Cameroon.Cameroon's Customs Authorities report that large shipments of rice sold in these countries are frequently trafficked illegally.According to reports, in 2019 , Cameroonian traders re-exported to neighbouring countries 332,300 tonnes of rice initially imported to meet domestic demands. These re-exported tonnes of rice generated approximately 87 billion Cfa Francs while the country grapples with satisfying its own domestic needs.To achieve food security, Cameroon aims to reach 750,000 tonnes of rice production annually by 2030.
