Speaking on June 19, 2025, in Yaounde during an extraordinary session of the Interministerial Committee for Railway Infrastructure and the Passenger Transport Committee , the Director of Railway Transport at the Ministry of Transport, revealed that funding for the project is already available, without providing details on the overall amount. Cameroon is poised to launch its second significant railway project in three decades. After successfully renewing the 175 km rail track between Batschenga and Ka'a, the country will embark on a new project to renovate the 330 km railway line between Belabo and Ngaoundéré, starting in 2027.As part of this project, the Cameroonian government had already managed to mobilize approximately 110 billion CFA francs from the French Development Agency (AFD) and 80 billion CFA francs from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union (EU) by 2023, totaling 190 billion CFA francs
