One of the major announcements made by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, on December 31, 2024, during his address to the nation, was the contractualization of healthcare personnel aimed at improving healthcare services.This measure by the Head of State is part of the continued efforts of the public authorities to improve healthcare services. For example, by strengthening the capacity of healthcare facilities, improving access to healthcare, particularly for vulnerable populations, and promoting the quality of healthcare services.It adds to the initiatives implemented to strengthen the technical capacity of hospitals and densify the healthcare map.The contractualization of 9,444 healthcare personnel over a period of five years, as announced by the Head of State, aims to address the distress calls of thousands of young Cameroonians trained each year in specialized schools of medicine and other health professions. These young health professionals face challenges such as unemployment, poor living conditions, poor working conditions, and exploitation in private health facilities.
