In its 2025 report on Cameroon's economic situation, the World Bank explained that national wealth is composed of human, physical, produced, and natural capital, valuing Cameroon's natural wealth at 331,800 billion CFA francs. According to the AfDB, Cameroon's natural capital consists of : forests rich in biodiversity, playing a central role in climate regulation and carbon sequestration, hydroelectric potential estimated at 12,000 megawatts, not yet fully exploite, significant solar potential, with an average insolation of 5.8 kWh/m²/day, favorable for clean energy productio,non-renewable natural capital: oil, natural gas, mineral resources. According to the African Bank of Development ,despite this significant potential, which constitutes a strategic lever for economic transformation and the achievement of sustainable development objectives in Cameroon, tthe contribution of natural capital to the Cameroonian economy remains moderate, due to under-exploitation of its potential. The African financial institution points to a decline in the share of natural capital in the gross domestic product as evidence. Rents from natural capital decreased from 6.5% of GDP in 2018 to 4.7% in 2020, reflecting a decline in the effective economic valuation of these resources
