Road Development :The Ebolowa-Kribi road project is entering its decisive phase

This infrastructure development aims to connect Ebolowa to Kribi, enhancing transportation and economic growth in the region. The 179.2 km road will link production basins and facilitate the movement of goods to and from the Kribi deep-sea port

 The Minister of Public Works (MINTP) chaired a decisive meeting on July 30, 2025, regarding the Ebolowa-Akom 2-Kribi road project, in the presence of technical teams, local authorities, and concerned partners.This significant infrastructure project evaluated at approximately 138 billion CFA,aims to enhance transportation and economic growth in the region. The Ebolowa-Kribi road project is part of the government's efforts to improve the country's road network, with 754.76 km of new bitumen roads expected to be delivered in 2025.This meeting likely aimed to facilitate effective project planning, minimize disruptions, and ensure a seamless transition to the construction phase . At the heart of the discussions: compensating local residents, a prerequisite for the effective start of construction. The Minister recalled that major steps have already been taken, including signing indemnification orders on April 22, 2025 setting up a dedicated bank account, and exploring financing mechanisms.The Minister emphasized the importance of these steps in moving the Ebolowa-Akom 2-Kribi road project forward, with the goal of improving transportation infrastructure in the region. Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi emphasized the need for better organization of the company in charge of the work, strict adherence to the specifications, and sensitization of local residents, particularly regarding respect for rain barriers. Special attention is required in critical areas of the route.By emphasizing these points, his  objective is to ensure the successful completion of the project, prioritizing both the well-being of local residents and the quality of the infrastructure being developed.A consultation took place with local authorities to accelerate compensation in the Mvila and Ocean departments. An envelope of 2.5 billion FCFA will be transferred to CAA to finalize the process. The Project Owner is thus aligning with the schedule established with the funder, Standard Chartered Bank, to ensure the project's smooth execution.This meeting marks an important milestone toward the active phase of the project, expected to significantly improve the link between the regional capital of the South and the coastal city
