The Limbe deep seaport project aims to relieve pressure from the port of Douala and position Cameroon as a major maritime hub in Central Africa. The project has been in planning for nearly 15 years and is estimated to cost 400 billion FCFA. The update of the feasibility study was launched in 2019 by an international firm at the government's request. Suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was relaunched in 2021 and finalized in 2022. The project expected to be executed under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) framework, with Yenigün Construction Company as the Turkish partner. However, concerns have been raised about Yenigün's lack of experience in port development, despite having built Japoma Stadium in Cameroon. The reasons behind the postponement are unclear, with the Minister of Transport not providing any specific details
