Given the urgency of replacing the culverts with hydraulic structures on National Highway No. 3 and to address the constraints related to resource availability, the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, opted for a phased approach to the project. As of March 2025, 64 structures have been built for a linear distance of 1403.39 ml at a cost of 19,921,512,642 F CFA TTC.The project aims to ensure the comfort and safety of users of National Highway No. 3, Yaounde-Douala, and specifically to ensure the circulation of people and goods during construction, replace culverts in advanced stages of degradation, rebuild road surfaces, and carry out repairs for horizontal signage.Since the start of the process in 2016, nine contracts have been awarded for this purpose. In 2016, Razel constructed a 13.5 ml box culvert, and in 2018, three more box culverts were built. Between 2018 and 2019, ROUTD'AF constructed 21 box culverts for 5,383,628,490 F CFA, while MAG SARL constructed 12 box culverts.Between 2021 and 2022, MAG SARL constructed 12 box culverts, and RAZEL constructed five box culverts. Between 2024 and 2025, MAG SARL constructed 10 box culverts, and the contracting process for the construction of five box culverts on the Pont de Ndoupé-Pont sur la Dibamba section is underway.
Additionally, a contract is active for the construction of seven box culverts on the Bekoko-Limbe-Idenau section of National Highway No. 3 by the SORCIPHARM-UNION ENTREPRISE consortium.
