This 10 MW transnational power line marks a significant milestone in the energy cooperation between Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The project aims to strengthen Gabon's electricity supply, particularly in the northern regions. The power line will also electrify localities in Gabon, including Bitam, Oyem, and Médouneu, from Mongomo, Acurenam, and Ebebiyin in Equatorial Guinea. The realization of this project is the result of a power purchase agreement signed between Gabon's Société d'énergie et d'eau (SEEG) and Equatorial Guinea's Sociedad de Electricidad de Guinea Ecuatorial (SEGESA) in July 2023. This electrical interconnection project between the two countries will contribute to improving energy security and promoting regional cooperation in Central Africa. The commissioning of this electrical interconnection line between Gabon and Equatorial Guinea is the result of an agreement signed on February 8 during the 6th extraordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of Central African States. This agreement marks a key step towards strengthened regional integration and the promotion of energy cooperation. Gabon, which is facing an energy crisis characterized by frequent power outages, currently has installed electricity generation capacities of 704 MW. This only covers half of the country's electricity demand. In this context, the government plans to increase this installed power to 1280 MW by the end of the year, in order to meet a projected demand of around 1039 MW
