The affected local governments have until April 20, 2025, to submit their proposals. All submitted projects must demonstrate a clear link to flood risk management and/or mitigation, and contribute to safeguarding local populations and infrastructure. These projects are required to embody a sustainable approach and engage local stakeholders in their conceptualization and execution. The objective is to identify solutions that are adapted to local contexts, acknowledging the unique characteristics of each community.According to the call for proposals, each local authority must provide a own contribution equivalent to 15% of the total project cost, while the remaining 85% will be funded by a solidarity contribution. The allocated amounts are limited to 300 million FCFA for a municipality or urban community and 500 million FCFA for a region. However, this limit may be increased by 30% if municipalities or regions group together to submit joint projects as part of an intercommunal or interregional approach. The funding is being channeled through the "Climate Window", established pursuant to the approval of the Feicom Board of Directors at its extraordinary meeting on November 1, 2024. This facility represents a strategic response to supporting local initiatives focused on sustainable development and climate change adaptation.Climate change, including rising sea levels and extreme weather phenomena, presents an escalating threat to local communities. The inadequacy or absence of infrastructure exacerbates these risks, rendering populations increasingly vulnerable to natural disasters. The current situation necessitates that local authorities implement measures to enhance their resilience and minimize the impact of natural disasters. As the banking institution for local authorities, Feicom is committed to supporting them in this initiative
