The two new  vessels, with a 60-ton pulling capacity,  are expected to boost the port's performance and improve the efficiency of port operations. These tugboats, named Emmanuel Endeley and John Ngu Foncha, were acquired at a cost of 11.6 billion CFA francs and are expected to play a crucial role in modernizing the port's services and boosting its competitiveness in the region. The Douala Autonome port  is taking steps to regain control and improve its operations after a period of concession to another company. The acquisition of new vessels is likely a key part of this effort to modernize and enhance port services. These brand-new vessels, equipped with 360° propulsion technology and optimal power, will significantly enhance the operations of the Tugboat Authority. Their acquisition is part of the extensive plan to renew the maritime fleet initiated by the Director General of PAD.As Cameroon aims for an 8% port growth rate by 2030, these tugboats are part of a series of investments (cranes, dredging, container terminal extension) designed to decongest the port and capture more traffic. This highlights Cameroon's efforts to modernize and expand its port infrastructure to meet ambitious growth targets and increase its competitiveness in the region
