In 2024, the French agro-industrial group Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille further strengthened its grip on the banana market in Cameroon. Thanks to the growing influence of its second subsidiary, Compagnie des Bananes de Mondoni (CDBM), which has been active in the South-West region of the country since June 2023, the French agro-industrial group alone accounted for 79.4% of Cameroon's banana exports as of December 31, 2024.

According to data compiled by the Cameroon Banana Association (Assobacam), international sales of the two local subsidiaries of this banana producer totaled 167,310 tons in 2024, out of total exports of 210,686 tons. The bulk of shipments to the international market was carried out by Plantations du Haut-Penja (PHP), the first subsidiary of the Compagnie Fruitière group.

Based on Assobacam's figures, this producer exported 153,258 tons of bananas as of December 31, 2024, revealing a 5.5% year-over-year decline. However, this decline in banana exports by the market leader in Cameroon was offset by the substantial increase in production by CBDM, whose international sales soared by 351% year-over-year, rising from just 3,115 tons at the end of 2023 to 14,052 tons at the end of 2024.beyond the exports of its two subsidiaries, the Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille group's footprint in the banana industry in Cameroon extends to the technical assistance that this multinational has been providing for several years to the country's two other producers. These are the public agro-industrial company CDC and the private company Boh Plantations Plc.For these two companies, the Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille group ensures, among other things, the monitoring of production and the export of products. It is in this capacity that in 2024, it exported a total of 31,643 tons of bananas on behalf of CDC, compared to 11,733 tons for BPL.
