The price received by producers in Berthod is equivalent to the minimum price of 4,300 francs, compared to a maximum of 4,600 francs, for the sale of a kilogram of cocoa beans at the Douala port on December 11, 2024. As stated in the documents from the Value Chain Information System, this device enables the real-time transmission of market prices to producers via their mobile phones, thereby enhancing their bargaining power when negotiating with buyers. In the same vein as group sales, which involve competitive bidding among multiple buyers. According to data from the National Cocoa and Coffee Office, during the 2023-2024 harvest season, which concluded in June 2024, 6.06% of Cameroon's commercialized cocoa beans were sourced from the East region, making it the country's fifth-largest production basin, after the Center (44.97%), Southwest (22.35%), Littoral (17.55%), and South (6.03%) regions.
