This amount breaks down into $122 million in debt, $55.5 million in equity and investments, and $2.5million in grants.The November 2024 balance sheet shows investors' caution, marked by a preference for debt financing, deemed less risky in an uncertain economic environment. The energy, fintech, and digital infrastructure sectors continue to concentrate the bulk of capital. Since the beginning of 2024, African startups have raised $1.86 billion, broken down into $1.2 billion in equity, $635 million in debt, and $33 million in grants. The $2 billion threshold could be reached by the end of December 2024. These figures remain significantly lower than the $2.8 billion raised in 2023, according to figures revealed by the Africa Big Deal Plateform.
