A recent study conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (Minhdu) estimates that approximately 13.5 billion CFA francs are required to repair and fill potholes on Yaounde's roads.Six months ago, Minister Célestine Ketcha Courtès organized a joint initiative with the Yaounde Urban Community (CUY) and the town halls of the city's seven district councils. This collaborative effort aimed to pool resources for maintaining the capital city's roads through the "Yaounde Intra Muros Without Potholes operation. The Head of State has prioritized infrastructure and road rehabilitation projects due to limited resources. These initiatives, combined with ongoing projects like project for the developpement of inclusive and resilient cities  and upcoming ones such as Cœur de Ville, Yaoundé Ville Verte, and the Sustainable Land Management Cities Project , aim to transform Yaounde into one of Africa's most beautiful cities. The large-scale road rehabilitation project in Yaounde has moved into its execution phase, with around ten contracts signed with experienced construction companies. The contracts cover roughly 100 km of major and secondary roads, and with 100% of contracts signed, the project launch is off to a strong start. The Minister has issued clear directives to stakeholders. For companies, this includes submitting revised project timelines and enhancing temporary signage on sites. For mayors, the focus is on sensitizing the public to ensure project ownership and maintaining site cleanliness post-construction.
