According to the Ministry of Public Works the two contracting companies will be supported by the Chinese company Stecol and the Moroccan company Staport, respectively, as subcontractors in the execution of these works. The first lot, connecting the city of Maroua to Moutourwa, has been awarded to the Sotcocog/Staport consortium for an amount of 21.1 billion FCFA. According to the results of the international call for tenders published by ARMP (Agence de Régulation des Marchés Publics), this group of companies will have 15 months to rehabilitate 36 km of roads. The second (Magada-Guidiguis, 68.30 km) and third lots (Guidiguis-Yagoua, 68.70 km) were awarded to the Chinese companies Sinohydro and Stecol for amounts of 40.2 and 41.3 billion FCFA, respectively, with a duration of 24 months each. These works are part of the Territorial Development and Private Sector Promotion Project in the Far North region, a true sub-regional hub between three of the four countries in the Lake Chad basin (Cameroon, Nigeria, and Chad). The African Development Bank (AfDB) indicates that this project aims to develop trade exchanges between Cameroon and its neighboring countries with which it shares borders. It will also enable the valorization of the country's road infrastructure in its intervention zone, by promoting the involvement of the private sector
