Assimilable treasury bonds listed on the public securities market of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), common to CEMAC countries, are once again at the heart of Cameroon's financing strategy.According to the annual calendar, Cameroon does not plan to issue a savings appeal on the CEMAC financial market this year, 2025.The Ministry of Finance has made public the forecast document for the issuance of public securities for the first quarter of 2025.It appears that Cameroon, under the leadership of Paul Biya, will seek to mobilize 230.4 billion CFA francs between January and March 2025. This fundraising effort breaks down into 35 billion CFA francs in January, 65 billion CFA francs in February, and 130.4 billion CFA francs by the end of March 2025.Cameroon's financing strategy primarily relies on short-term treasury bills with maturities of 26 weeks(CFA 490 billion )and 52 weeks( CFA 175 Billion). With regards to long-term securities, the 5 and 6 year assimilable treasury bonds will be the most sought with raises of 110 billion CFA francs for each instrument.Cameroon is facing challenges in the market, exacerbated by tightening lending conditions and a monetary policy tightening orchestrated by the central bank to contain rising inflation. This new environment is forcing Cameroon, which has a preference for low interest rates, to adjust its remuneration rates on its market operations.
