Public Investment Project: Witnesses A Slow Down In The South-West Region.
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 1 ansThe level of public project execution in the South-West region is determined only at 30% in 2024 according to statistics,a percentage that gave raised to concerns during the Regional Committee meeting for participatory monitoring semi-annual session that took place in Buea August 8,2024.

According to statistics, this figures shows a decline compared to the previous year. In detail, on 517 public investment projects 72 is attributed to the Ndian Division , 48 to Manyu, 70 to the Fako Division, 42 to Lebialem ,29 to Kupe Manenguba, and 29 to the Meme Division . Despite the high numbers of Projects, the global level of execution is still very low.To remind that the global amount of these public investment projects is estimated at Cfa 22Million for the year 2024. The main concerns during the meeting was to examine the main issues that renders to the non execution and delays of the project and to seek solutions to palliate to this issues, that are attributed to the fact that some Municipalities attributes Contract to some entrepreneurs that have not satisfied to the demand of fiscal compliance clearance with consequences affecting the execution of the projects: many stays inachieved or are still pending waiting for the effective start. Another challenge issue is attributed to the ongoing crisis in the Anglophone zone that greatly contributes at delaying the frame work of this Public investment projects in certain localities hence a contribute factor in the economic slow down of economic activities of the population and slow down in development goals initiated by the government. Confronted with this concerning situation the president of the Regional Committee for the Follow up of Projects calls those in charge of the projects to review their policies and retake concrate measures to ammeliorate this situation.
