The ceremony, held at the Hilton Hotel, marked the commitment of stakeholders to the realization of this major project, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya. The presence of several members of the government, including the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Jules Doret Ndongo, and the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Gabriel Mbaïrobe, underscored the importance of this initiative for the country's development.
After more than 14 years of preparation, this project is entering its concrete phase with a seven-year implementation timeline. The announced objectives are particularly ambitious and could transform the tourism and leisure sector in Cameroon. The developers aim to welcome 5 million tourists annually and plan to create 2 million direct and indirect jobs. The development of Ndollè City is also expected to stimulate the local economy by encouraging the involvement of 12,000 national companies and supporting the creation of more than 5,300 additional businesses.
The project, which focuses on promoting the leisure sector, aims to become a regional benchmark. Minister Gabriel Mbaïrobe reiterated the government's support, emphasizing the project's role in diversifying the economy. "Ndollè City is not just a tourist complex; it is a growth engine that will catalyze the emergence of a new generation of entrepreneurs and professionals in services and tourism," he said.
The tripartite agreement establishes a legal framework to secure investments and ensure transparency in the implementation process. While the challenges of financing and managing urbanization remain areas of concern, this signing represents a significant step forward for a project that could position Cameroon as a prime destination in Central Africa.
