According to the latest technical assessment, the major groundwork is now complete: earthworks have been fully executed, giving way to a robust and proven road structure. From the cement-treated sub-base to the anti-cracking layer of crushed aggregate, every stratum of this infrastructure has been laid with geotechnical rigor, aiming to guarantee the longevity of this strategic axis against the harsh climatic conditions of the Far North.
On the ground, the metamorphosis is striking. Crucial stages such as the sanded prime coat and the asphalt concrete base layer are already finished, as is the tack coat that ensures adhesion to the final wearing course. The project now awaits only its bituminous concrete wearing course to offer users optimal driving comfort. A test strip, a true dress rehearsal before the deployment of the black carpet, has been successfully completed. This technical step validates the implementation parameters and ensures that the final bitumen will meet the most demanding safety and resistance standards.
The agenda for the coming days is dense for the teams of the company in charge of the works. In addition to the imminent start of the definitive asphalt paving, the schedule for January 2026 includes the implementation of the surface dressing test section. This final phase will mark the end of disruptions for transporters and local populations, while boosting commercial exchanges along this axis, which constitutes an essential link with neighboring Nigeria. By completing the Mora-Tchakamari section, the Government reaffirms its determination to open up the production basins of the Grand North, transforming construction dust into a ribbon of asphalt that fosters growth.
