Local finances : Elected officials fromAdamaoua and East regions undergo training for optimized resource management

February 20, the municipal magistrates of Adamawa and East, the executives of the Regional Council of these two regions and the actors responsible for the execution of the 2025 budget met in Ngaoundere to participate in a dedicated workshop

The participants aimed to familiarize themselves with the local taxation law promulgated on December 23, the implementation of the current program budget, and the transfer of powers, among other things. The exchanges allowed participants to delve deeper into the government's directives to enable better management of state resources.The Decentralization Orientation Law of July 22, 2004, establishes the general framework for territorial decentralization, which involves the transfer of specific powers and resources from the State to local authorities. This law also entrusts the Regional Council with the responsibility of supporting the development of local authorities. Specifically, the Regional Council has jurisdiction over various economic areas, including:  Promoting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), Organizing trade fairs and exhibitions, Developing the handicraft sector,Supporting agricultural and pastoral activities,Providing assistance to micro-projects that generate income and employment, Promoting tourism development. Regions are also responsible for developing and implementing regional development plans, entering into planning contracts with the State to achieve development goals, participating in the organization and management of interurban public transportation, rehabilitating and maintaining departmental and regional roads, and supporting the action of municipalities in urban planning and housing
