CDEN 2025 Budget : 3.1 Billion FCFA to Boost Livestock Farming in the Grand North

In comparison, the CDEN budget for 2024 stood at 1.7 billion FCFA, versus 1.4 billion FCFA in 2023. This significant increase in the budget for 2025 reflects the importance given to the development of the livestock sector in the North, Far North, and Adamawa regions.This financial envelope will enable CDEN to implement the activities of the Emergency Program to combat the food crisis (Pulcca), focusing on three main axes: animal health protection, animal production, and pastoral animation. These actions are part of the Integrated Agro-Pastoral and Fisheries Import Substitution Plan, which aims to strengthen Cameroon's food self-sufficiency.Minister Taïga, who serves as the President of the CDEN's Board of Directors, has urged the institution to explore the apiculture sector, a non-conventional livestock farming activity. This diversification effort could enhance livestock farmers' income and stimulate local economic growth.For the year 2024, the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries, and Animal Industries (Minepia) welcomed the acquisition by CDEN of a truck, intended to facilitate field operations and contribute to improving the quality and quantity of production in the livestock, fisheries, and animal industries sectors.
CDEN plays a crucial role in Training and supporting livestock farmers in managing their herds , thereby contributing to strengthening the capacities of local actors.Its main objective is to promote the development of livestock farming in Cameroon by establishing fodder crops , developing seed fields, protecting animal health and building infrastructure dedicated to livestock farming
