The Regional Project to Support Pastoralism and Livestock Marketing in Transborder Territories was officially launched on July 29, 2025, in Garoua, Cameroon. Funded by the French Development Agency to the tune of 6.6 billion CFA francs. This four-year program (2025-2029) aims to enhance the resilience of agropastoral stakeholders in the border areas between Cameroon, Chad, and Nigeria. This initiative aligns with efforts to promote sustainable development and stability in the region, similar to other projects like the Emergency Development Food Crisis Response Project (PULCCA), launched in August 2024, which aims to address food insecurity and strengthen economic resilience.Besides improving food security an income th project is expected to boost the country's national meat production. According to the Cameroonian Ministry of Livestock in 2023 , The grand North alone accounted for 22% of the country's beef production.Cameron has been focusing on developing its livestock sector to increase meat production. In 2023 the country's meat production reached 310,000 tons , showing significant growth. In 2024 production decreased to 235,960 tons . Livestock farming plays a crucial role in Cameroon's agricultural sector and economy contributing to food security and economic growth.
