Dernière mise à jours il y'a 3 semaine

The face of the main access point to the city of Douala is undergoing a metamorphosis. Development work on Phase 2 of the Eastern Entrance is now progressing at a steady pace, marking a decisive step in streamlining traffic flow toward the economic metropolis. As of February 8, 2026, the overall physical progress of the roadwork is estimated at 89%, reflecting the regained momentum of the company MAG SARL on the ground.

On the technical front, the evolution is particularly visible in the pavement structures. The subgrade layer is nearly complete across the project's 8,700 linear meters, as is the sub-base layer, which already covers more than 8,500 meters in both directions. The bitumen-bound gravel base layer, a crucial stage for the structure's durability, is practically finished with over 8,200 meters already laid on each side.

The drainage component, essential for the sustainability of infrastructure in coastal areas, is also showing significant progress. The installation of gutters is now fully completed in both directions. Simultaneously, teams are working on laying curbs, with execution already exceeding 7,300 linear meters, thereby refining the profile of this urban highway.

The long-awaited final surfacing stage is drawing near. A trial section for the application of semi-granular concrete has been successfully completed. Once the technical results are validated, the company will launch the final paving—the last phase before the delivery of this major infrastructure. Once finished, this project promises to end the chronic congestion that hampers economic activity at the city's entrance.
