Human Rights: UN Expectations From Cameroon.
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 1 ansArrived in Cameroon on August 5,2024 the High Commissioner of the United Nations to Human Rights had a series of exchanges with the Cameroon authorities, actors of politics and members of the civil society on the questions of human rights in Cameroon.

During his 3days official visit in Cameroon Volker Türk outlined the fact that nowadays Cameroon is confronted with multiple challenges in terms of human rights this was during a press conference organised at the Yaounde Research Center IRIC . According to National statistics 40% of the Cameroon population is compose of youths that faces challenges of employment and approximately 20% of the population are living extreme poverty , Cameroon regorges many natural resources such as mineral,golds and a fertile land that favours agriculture the United Nations expect from Cameroon to exploit this opportunities to develop new one hence contributing in creating more descent jobs to employ cameroonians to reduce the level of poverty and misery. According to the UN Human Rights Chief talking about the upcoming election, Cameroon had 3 major challenges to overcome amongst the most difficult to organise a credible and peaceful election that is the socio-political and economic crisis in the Regions of The North West, South West ,The Far North and the East characterised by voilence and persistent abuse on the right of citizens . Nowadays Cameroon has approximately 2 million refugees from neighbouring countries and out of 28 million people a total of 3.4 million people needs humanitarian aids . The negative impact of the crisis had led to movement of more than 100billion people and approximately 700.000 children deprived of their rights to education.The Cameroonians authorities should allow the participants of the population including the disabled person to the upcoming election and guarantees the freedom of speech and opinions.UN calls on the Cameroonian government to fight against impunity which is essentially for its contribute at reinforcing collaboration between the population and the state. Cameroon plays an important role in multilateral body particularly at the heart of the UN at the Regional and international level, therefore The UN counts on Cameroon to promote universal Human Rights.
