Under the impetus of the Minister of State, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, the Cameroonian university system is taking a new step in managing its social climate. The objective of this Coordination and Monitoring Committee (CCS) session was clear: to transform administrative recommendations into concrete realities for the support staff of the country's eleven state universities.
Chaired by Prof. Blaise Mtopi Fotso, the proceedings revealed a major ambition: the decentralization of dialogue bodies. Observing that the national monitoring of resolutions can sometimes suffer from delays, the ministry now advocates for the establishment of permanent consultation frameworks within each university institution. This local approach would allow for a faster response to specific field needs by addressing staff concerns where they arise. By relocating the dialogue, the CCS is no longer just a high-level body but is becoming a daily social monitoring tool.
Beyond the broad principles of consultation, the session allowed for a review of technical files essential to the lives of the staff. In particular, a comprehensive update was provided on the implementation level of resolutions from the previous session to ensure that commitments do not remain a dead letter. Furthermore, the work focused on drafting local regulatory frameworks intended to ensure smooth and secure professional growth for support staff. This drive for structuring was also reflected in the definition of practical methods allowing each university to have its own exchange space between delegates and administration, thereby promoting more reactive and transparent career management within the campuses themselves.
The discussions, marked by a spirit of responsibility, reaffirmed that academic success is inseparable from a peaceful social climate. Support staff who are heard and whose working conditions improve are a guarantee of performance for the entire educational system. By adopting this inclusive dynamic, MINESUP ensures that resolutions will now be subject to rigorous monitoring. This new course aims to durably preserve the social climate on campuses, thus consolidating the excellence of Cameroonian higher education.
