The Cameroonian Public Service, announced the revocation of 1,172 public officials , in a statement signed on November 18,2024 by the Minister of Public Service,Joseph Le. According to Joseph Le, these decisions were made in accordance with the October 7, 1994 decree, establishing the general status of the civil service, amended and supplemented on October 12 ,2000 as well as the decree of November 9 1978 , setting out the common provisions applicable to state agents subject to the labor code. The latest round of sanctions comes on top of the 1,981 terminations and 424 revocations already announced, taking total tally of those impacted by disciplinary actions to 3,577. The sanctions result from the 2019 physical headcount operation of state personnel,aimed at identifying and purging irregularly listed agents from the state's payroll, including those with unjustified absences , un reported resignations or un declared deaths. Upon completion of this phase, all concerned staff will be struck off the public service records , as per the Head of State ,PR Paul Biya directives in a circular regarding the 2025-2027 budget preparation signed last October 2024.The Cameroonian government's initiative has led to the removal of more than 500 fictitious public agents from the state payroll, yielding an annual budget saving of around 20 billion cfa francs in 2019, according to the Minister of Finance Louis Paul Motaze.
