During the 2024 budgetary exercise, the Cameroonian customs collected nearly 38 billion CFA francs under contentious files. This sum breaks down into 16.7 billion CFA francs in compromised duties and 20.8 billion CFA francs in fines.Compromised duties increased by 1.138 billion CFA francs compared to the 15.6 billion CFA francs recorded in 2023. This upturn can be explained by the number of cases in progress, which rose from 9221 in 2023 to 9429 in 2024.As for fines, they decreased by 3.381 billion CFA francs, to establish themselves at 20.863 billion CFA francs in 202According to the General Directorate of Customs, this decline could be explained by the fact that the failure to report on value and classification was less repressed during the past year.
