Economy: The Gov't Of Cameroon And Inbar Have Reached An Agreement To Revitalise The Bamboo And Rattan Industry.
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 1 ansThe Cameroon's Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille Bassileken III has endorsed on August 27 a memorandum of agreement with the Director of the Central Africa Office of the international bamboo and rattan (Inbar ) to boost the bamboo and rattan industry in Cameroon.

This collaboration paraphrased in Mbalmayo (center region) aims at reinforcing and give more value to these natural resources from cameroon, develop specialized clusters, building and enhancing the technical skills of local craft mens, same as the optimization of physical resources. According to Cameroon's official, Cameroon disposes of 15 species of bamboo and 21species of rattan, therefore this agreement aim at fully exploring the natural riches for its transformation in commercial products that may open up doors to more than 30000 new jobs , stimulate local economy and ammeliorate the living situation of Cameroonian citizens in communities . According to the terms of the agreement between Cameroon and inbar , both parties engages themselves to ensure the long-term sustainability of the workshops , support crafters capacity -building and resources mobilization to guarantee the continuation of these initiatives.This agreement falls within the economic strategy of Cameroon to promote a durable and inclusive economy. Overall, according to the government of Cameroon, bamboo and rattan are local resources that can play a vital role in the economic development of the country that is by creating jobs, that will reduce the level of poverty.This agreement is also an opportunity for Cameroon to put inplace the application of the import-substitution policy that is it will encourage Cameroonians to consume local furnitures made out of local bamboo and rattan that will considerable reduce the amount of money Cameroon spends each year to import fournitures such bed , chair .To a greater extend, this agreement at a long-term will project Cameroon savoir-faire in terms of local transforming to the world market opening doors to exportation of these products to other countries hence increasing Cameroon's wallet.
