The funds will provide critical support, including access to safe water and sanitation, medical supplies, treatment for severely malnourished children, and protection services.The humanitarian situation in eastern DRC is alarming, with an additional 658,000 people displaced in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces over the past three months. Children are particularly vulnerable, facing increased health and protection risks, including the spread of diseases such as cholera, measles, and monkeypox.UNICEF is urging international donors and humanitarian partners to respond generously to this appeal to protect Congolese children caught in this cycle of violence and forced displacement.Concretely, the $22 million envelope will be used to respond to urgent humanitarian needs, particularly by providing access to safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, medical supplies, treatment for malnutrition, and child protection services.Violence in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has escalated, worsening an already severe humanitarian crisis. According to UNICEF, instability in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces has forced 658,000 people to flee their homes over the past three months.
