The funding, whose amount has not yet been disclosed, will specifically be used to open up production basins, taking into account anti-erosive measures and the construction of civil engineering works. The project plans to establish a decentralized mechanism for the maintenance of communal roads and civil engineering works and support economic development and improve infrastructure in the region. Once completed, the project aims to increase not only agropastoral jobs but also socio-economic activities in this part of the country, which should lead to improved agricultural yields and production in the agricultural basins. A call for expression of interest has been launched by the project coordinator, to select a company to carry out the work.In Cameroon, there are 111,647.42 km of dirt roads (accounting for 91.60% of the national network) for which a maintenance strategy has been developed by the government to ensure they maintain a correct level of service without any breakdowns. According to the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (SND30), approximately 3,600 km of roads still need to be paved to achieve the target set for 2030. The Rural Development Project for the North and Adamawa regions has the overall objective of improving the economic situation of the rural population, particularly women and youth, in the North and Adamawa regions by rehabilitating and utilizing communal roads to open up production basins
