The mining title was handed over by the interim Minister of Mines, Fuh Calistus Gentry, in the presence of the technical and financial partner Shandong Gold Mining Co, Ltd, a Chinese company 42% owned by Beijing.Caminco must start production within a maximum of two years, failing which the permit will be automatically canceled.The agreement signed early 2025, with the state provides for a surface royalty of 75,000 FCFA per km² per year, as well as an export tax set at 5%. Public participation is significant: 10% free shares, accompanied by a production-sharing mechanism. At the first commercial production, 13% of the extracted gold will be allocated to local stakeholders: 3% to the state, 1% to Sonamines, 4% to Cameroonian shareholders, and 5% as ad valorem tax. Additionally, Caminco will contribute 0.5% of its production to the mining development fund and 0.7% of its turnover to a special account for local capacity building. The deposit, covering an area of 500 km², contains approximately 5 million tons of ore, with an average grade of 1.89 g/t.
