The government plans to carry out electrical connections in the cities of Yaounde, Douala and Bafoussam, starting in 2025. The provisional cost of this project is approximately 4 billion Cfa Francs, the implementation will span for 24 months, subdivided into 3 lots.In detail, the electrical connections in the cities of Yaounde, Douala, and Bafoussam will be carried out as follows: The first lot, which will take place in Yaounde, will enable the realization of 20,000 electrical connections. The second lot, which will be executed in Douala, aims to achieve 25,000 connections, and the last lot in Bafoussam will receive 5000 electrical connections, both single-phase and three-phase. Thanks To this project, funded by the World Bank , through its 2024 budget support, Cameroon hopes to reduce its commercial electricity losses, improve revenue collection and better control energy flows in the distribution segment. According to ENEO, the country's electrification rate for H1 of 2024 is 68% compared to 64% a few years ago, and aims during early 2025 ,in addition to the 65000 expected connections to achieve more than 200,000 new connections.
