According to Cameroon's Minister of Economy, Alamine Ousmane Mey, this financing is the result of a loan agreement signed in January 2024 with the African Development Bank (AfDB).CFA 157 billion. This is the amount that will be mobilized by the Cameroonian government for the rehabilitation of 173 km of roads in the Far North region. These works are part of the Territorial Development and Private Sector Promotion Project in the Far North Region, a key hub between Cameroon, Nigeria, and Chad. The African Development Bank (AfDB) indicates that this project aims to strengthen trade exchanges between Cameroon and its neighboring countries. Additionally, it will enhance the country's road infrastructure by involving the private sector. The road rehabilitation works in the Far North region of Cameroon will be carried out in three lots and will improve the Moutourwa-Maroua axis (36 km), Magada-Guidiguis (68.30 km) and Guidiguis-Yagoua (68.70 km). Although the company responsible for implementing the project has not yet been designated, the Ministry of Public Works (Minepat) assured that the works will begin in the coming months, as announced during the first session of the Steering Committee of the program for the rehabilitation and development of the Far North, held on February 20 in Yaounde
