Yaoundé-Nsimalen Airport : A Major Blow to Narcotics and Capital Flight Networks
Dernière mise à jours il y'a 6 heuresThe Yaoundé-Nsimalen airport platform is confirming its role as a bulwark against the underground economy. Under the coordination of Customs Captain ANGONI NGOMBA Clément, the Airport Anti-Trafficking Cell (CAAT) recently neutralized two distinct fraud attempts, illustrating the increased vigilance of authorities in the face of new forms of cross-border crime and the evasion of financial resources.

The expertise of CAAT agents led to the interception of a singular cargo arriving on an international flight. A passenger of Cameroonian nationality was apprehended in possession of 36 units of electronic cigarettes. Analysis of the products revealed the presence of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient of cannabis, concealed within a modern technological form. With a total weight approaching 2,000 grams, this seizure highlights the evolving operating methods of traffickers to bypass traditional controls.
A few days later, on March 17, customs units scored a decisive point in the fight against money laundering and the illicit outflow of foreign currency. During boarding formalities for a commercial mission to China, a traveler was intercepted with an undeclared sum of 56,320 Euros, equivalent to nearly 37 million FCFA. The banknotes, carefully hidden within his personal effects, were seized in accordance with current regulations on foreign fund transfers. These successive operations are not mere anecdotes.
They are part of a global strategy aimed at sanitizing the business environment and protecting public health. By strengthening surveillance at air borders, the Cameroonian customs administration is sending a clear signal: compliance with procedures remains the absolute rule. This rigor is a guarantee of credibility for the national economy, ensuring that the flows of goods and capital operate within the strictest legality.
