The ceremony, held on September 3 at the "First Bank House" in the presence of the Minister of Secondary Education, Pauline Nalova Lyonga, marked an important step in the institution's support for the Cameroonian educational system. This initiative is part of the bank's B-First program, which aims to encourage perseverance and hard work. The 50 award recipients, selected based on a minimum score of 70% and following a national competition, received a partial or full scholarship. This scholarship will allow them to pursue their higher education under optimal conditions.
"The B-First program, more than just an initiative, is an inclusive approach designed to have a lasting impact on our society," declared Deputy General Manager Youssoufa Bouba, emphasizing the bank's conviction that education is a driver of social and economic transformation. This year's initiative builds on past successes and announces a considerable increase in investment. Since its launch in 2024, the B-First program has already rewarded 12,500 students and provided school kits worth over 300 million FCFA.
For the 2025 edition, Afriland First Bank intends to double its investment. A budget of 500 million FCFA will be allocated to the program, with the goal of reaching 500 schools and 25,000 beneficiaries, including students from the most remote areas. This commitment aims to mentor young talent and prepare them for tomorrow's professional challenges, reward effort and perseverance, and create a network of excellence where laureates become role models for future generations.
The initiative was praised by Minister Pauline Nalova Lyonga, who highlighted the alignment of the bank's values with those of her ministry. The collaboration between the two parties will also be facilitated by the unique student ID number assigned to secondary school students in Cameroon, which will help simplify data management, reduce the risk of fraud, and ensure the transparency of the process.
