Canyon has chosen rail transport to convey its future bauxite production. The company has been in discussions with Camrail for several years to sign binding agreements, and its entry into the capital of the rail operator is expected to facilitate the establishment of a strategic partnership.Through its local subsidiary Camalco, Canyon finalized the purchase of 3.8% of Camrail's shares from the Société d'Exploitation des Bois du Cameroun at the end of February 2025, for a total of 575.7 million CFA francs ,approximately $1 million. The purchase price for the initial 3.8% stake was 575.7 million CFA francs (around $1 million). A subsequent agreement with Total Cameroun was reached for the acquisition of an additional 5.3% stake, with a consideration of 812.8 million CFA francs ($1.3 million). The latter transaction is pending internal approval by Total, expected by late March 2025. By concluding this agreement with Camrail, Canyon overcomes one of the main obstacles to its bauxite production project in Cameroon, scheduled for 2026. Other challenges remain, including mobilizing the necessary funding for the construction of the mine and concluding an agreement for access to the port of Douala, essential for the shipment of production.According to the feasibility study published in 2022, the Minim Martap mine is expected to produce up to 6.4 million tonnes of high-grade bauxite per year, with an estimated lifespan of 20 years
