Several types of fees have been introduced. This includes the berthing fee, which is required upon arrival at the main quay. The tariffs are as follows: 30,000 FCFA for a vessel between 3 and 30 meters, 50,000 FCFA for a vessel between 31 and 100 meters, and 100,000 FCFA for a vessel over 100 meters. There is also a parking fee, applicable when the vessel remains at the quay beyond the regulatory 24 hours after berthing. The tariffs are as follows: 500 FCFA per hour for a vessel between 3 and 30 meters, 1,000 FCFA per hour for a vessel between 31 and 100 meters, and 1,500 FCFA per hour for a vessel over 100 meters. The loading and unloading fee applies when loading or unloading goods. The tariffs are 1,000 FCFA per barrel for fuel and lubricants, and 5 FCFA/kg for other goods. The transit fee is also now in effect. This fee is collected from vessels passing through the main quay, both inbound and outbound, at a rate of 10,000 FCFA per vessel. Finally, the departure fee is collected before the vessel's departure, calculated using the same tariffs as the berthing fee.The top management of the port specified that any activity not covered by this tariff will be subject to subsequent approval, in accordance with the regulations in force. She also warned that penalties of 100% of the due rights will be imposed on ships docking at quays not approved by the Garoua Urban Community, manager of the port. The introduction of these fees aims to increase the revenue of the Garoua port, a key tool for the economic development of the northern regions. These funds will also contribute to the renovation of this river port, built over 60 years ago and heavily degraded due to silting. The rehabilitation of the port, estimated at over 16 billion FCFA by the APN, will enable the densification of trade exchanges with Nigeria and the formalization of a large part of transactions with this neighboring country
