External Trade: Soap Represents 68% Of Cameroon's Exports To Nigeria In 2023

During the year 2023 , Cameroon has exported 60738 tons of goods to Nigeria for an estimated amount of CFA 39.5 billion . According to the National institute of statistics , soap was the main driver of these exports that represented 68% followed by tobacco products rated at 8% and compressed gas cylinders representing 5% . In 2023 Nigeria obtained the 3rd position of principal African customers of Cameroon, Chad tops the lists as the 1st African customer of Cameroon with 39.3% of the market share followed by South Africa with 12.6% , Nigeria with 10.4% and the Central African Republic with 9.06% of the market share .Other countries such as Congo, Equatorial Guinea , Gabon was amongst the top 10 of Cameroon's customer lists , According to experts in the domain of trade, despite the introduction of ZLECAF the level of commercial exchange between Cameroon and other African countries are still pending ,This situation situation can be attributed to the fact that goods exchange with others countries are meaninly food store where at times there is no taxation or low taxation rate , also the informal commercial exchange at boarders that are not registered by custom agents.
