The electricity sector is structurally financially unstable, but it is not facing a production shortage. The company's investment policy has led to a significant increase in electricity access, from 56% to 75%. As a leading player in the electricity sector, Eneo operates in the production, distribution, and trade segments, with a production capacity of 1011 MW, accounting for 58% of the country's total installed capacity of approximately 1800 MW.Eneo manages a 36,000 km distribution network of medium and low-voltage lines, which has expanded by 80% over the past decade due to investments. This expansion has enabled the connection of 1.2 million new households to the grid, raising the electricity access rate from 56% to 75%.To support energy dissemination, Eneo has invested in its power generation assets, focusing on securing and modernizing major hydroelectric infrastructure, upgrading equipment in thermal power plants, and integrating solar and other renewable energy sources.Flagship investments include those made in major dams such as Songloulou, Edéa, and Lagdo to increase their lifespan, as well as the installation of large solar power plants in the far north. These investments were made despite a difficult financial situation, marked by a cash flow crisis at Eneo, which would have otherwise allowed for more projects and better service quality. Looking ahead, the sector's recovery plan, led by stakeholders and coordinated by the Ministry of Water and Energy, offers hope for a brighter future
