This expansion of capacity will be made possible through the enlargement of its storage unit located in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon. This project is part of the company's expansion plan, which aims to equip itself with new domestic gas storage infrastructure. In other words, Bocom Petroleum intends to increase its domestic gas storage capacity, thereby aligning its project with its expansion plan. This expansion of its storage unit in Douala will enable the company to strengthen its position in the domestic gas market in Cameroon. Bocom Petroleum also plans to double its daily LPG filling capacity through the construction of two new filling centers in Maroua and Ngaoundere, which will be operational from the first quarter of 2025. The company has also received a €50 million loan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to support its activities in the distribution of liquefied petroleum gas.The company, a subsidiary of the Bocom group, announces that it is finalizing a plan to expand the storage capacity of this filling unit by 1,000 metric tons . The extension will be in the form of 2x500 metric tons of LPG storage. This expansion project is expected to eventually increase the installed storage capacity in this filling center to 2,200 metric tons. The center also has a bottling unit with a capacity of 5,000 bottles per day.The company indicates that this project aims to "improve storage capacities at the national level. This will have a positive impact on the availability of the product, including butane gas for domestic use, considering that the country's demand for domestic gas increases by an average of 9% each year, according to the Hydrocarbon Price Stabilization Fund.According to data compiled by the Hydrocarbon Price Stabilization ,domestic gas consumption increased from 67,000 metric tons to 110,000 metric tons between 2011 and 2018. In 2023, demand is estimated at 150,000 metric tons, of which 20% is supplied by national production around 30,000 metric tons and the rest is imported ,around 120,000 metric tons
