The construction of the Congo's national data center is nearing completion, with approximately 90% of the work done, The government aims to put it into service by November. This was revealed during a site visit by officials from the Ministry of Digital Economy and the African Development Bank (AfDB), which is partly financing the project.This initiative is part of the Congolese authorities' efforts to strengthen the country's digital infrastructure. In partnership with the African Development Bank, the country has already connected via fiber optic cable with Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and Gabon . Furthermore, Congo is implementing the Digital Transformation Acceleration Project funded with $100 million by the World Bank. This program aims to improve access to high-speed internet.In the long term, the government aims to make Congo a true information and knowledge society by leveraging ICT for socio-economic development.The government views the data center as a key tool for bolstering national digital sovereignty and driving digital transformation. According to the UN's E-Government Development Index (EGDI) 2024, Congo ranked 166th out of 193 countries, scoring 0.3391 out of 1, which falls short of the African average 0.4347and global average 0.6382. In terms of telecommunication infrastructure, Congo scored 0.2776 out of 1
