Sahel Capital, The Nigerian-based fund manager, Sahel Capital has granted a $1.5 million loan (over 850 million CFA francs) to Cameroonian company Nulla Group, a woman-led enterprise specializing in corn aggregation and processing. The financing aims to support local small-scale farmers and consolidate the supply chain in the underfunded agricultural sector. By investing in its supply chain, the company can strengthen its relationships with small-scale farmers and contribute to the growth of the corn sector in Cameroon Despite Cameroon's solid agricultural fundamentals, with an estimated annual production of around 2.3 million tons, financing for SMEs active in this sector is lacking. The World Bank evaluates the engagement deficit at nearly $8.7 billion. Yet, the sector employs over six million agricultural workers, accounting for 68% of the country's total producers, and represents the primary source of income for small-scale farmers.Regarding production efforts, Cameroon remains corn-deficient, with an estimated production deficit of 600,000 tons. The country imports corn and its derivatives worth over $260 million annually, affecting the trade balance
